Restore Consecration Celebration & Lunch
Sunday, February 27
We will conclude the pledge portion of our RESTORE Campaign with a Consecration Celebration on Sunday, February 27. Join us at one of our services at 8:30 or 11:00am where we will bless our pledges and offer them to God. Following the services, everyone will be invited to a Consecration Lunch from 11:00am – 1:00pm where we will celebrate all that God has done for us.

basics

In September of 2020, our Main Sanctuary was severely damaged by Hurricane Sally. Since then, we have yet to receive enough funds from our insurance company to cover the consequential repairs. And given our insurance company’s words and actions, we are uncertain when or if we will ever receive these funds. In order to resume worship in our beautiful Main Sanctuary, it became necessary to move forward with the repairs ourselves, and in September of last year, we were fortunate to secure funding via a loan from our Alabama-West Florida Conference. Though more repairs are still needed, this loan has allowed us to restore our beloved sanctuary for worship and it has also helped us to fortify the building against future storms.

The RESTORE Capital Campaign is being launched as a stipulation of the loan. The funds raised through this campaign will be used to make our monthly payments on this loan until we reach a settlement with our insurance company.

This First Church congregation has been worshiping and serving in Pensacola for 200 years, and our current Main Sanctuary building is over 100 years old. With the funds raised in this campaign, our hope is that this congregation can provide a safe home for worshiping our great God and a place from which to serve this great community for another 100 years.

It’s important to note that the RESTORE campaign is not our annual stewardship campaign. Pledging to this campaign should not impact your regular tithe or offering. RESTORE is an opportunity to give sacrificially above and beyond your regular giving.

faq

What happens to my pledge if and when we settle with our insurance company?
Your pledge is imperative for us to make the monthly payments on our loan; however, any funds acquired from our insurance company will first be used to pay off any debts. Once our debt is paid in full, the fulfillment of your pledge will no longer be needed, but you will have the option to roll your pledge over to a fund that will be used to pay for future campus repairs.

I already give to support the mission and ministries of the church. How can I give more?
Capital giving seeks larger amounts than annual budgets can cover. We thank you for your gifts to God through First Church – especially in this tough time of the COVID pandemic. Supporting the mission and ministry of the Church is essential. This campaign is an additional opportunity to give back to God and respond to this need of urgent nature.

May I give assets other than money?
Assets that can be converted to cash such as real estate, stocks, bonds, life insurance, and other securities are excellent ways to give. Gifts of appreciated assets may have additional tax benefits to the donor. Contact Liz Noyes, Director of Finance (LNoyes@FUMCPensacola.com).

How much is each person expected to give?
Our only expectation is that each person prays and asks, “What is God calling me to give?” and then go where God leads. While the amounts will obviously be different for everyone, our hope is that each person will be led by God to give generously and sacrificially. Any amount you can contribute, no matter how small, will help. See chart on back panel to help you plan your pledge.
