Lynn Frances Johnston Scholarship

Biography

On December 24, 1999, our community tragically lost a valued member in an automobile accident. Dr. Lynn Frances Johnston, a dentist, helped found the Sacred Heart Hospital Children’s Dental Clinic and volunteered half her time there. As a fervent supporter of children’s dental health, Lynn was instrumental in the drive to fluoridate Pensacola’s drinking water. As a member of the Junior League of Pensacola, Lynn worked diligently to support the organization and had agreed to serve as president-elect for 2000-2001.

Lynn was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Pensacola Rotary Club, the Tiger Bay Club and Sacred Heart Foundation Board of Directors and Executive Council. She was a 1990 LEP graduate and a member of the LEAP Alumnae Group. She was a speaker for Junior Jobs, collaboration between the Girl Scouts of America and the Junior League. She was the Assistant Telethon Chairman for the 1998 Children’s Miracle Network Telethon. She was a courageous woman whose dedication and commitment to needy children in this community ignited the spark in others to continue her mission after her untimely death. Lynn is survived by her husband, three sons and a multitude of friends and colleagues, who will always treasure her memory.
