Christian Education Opportunities

Church-wide Lenten Study
Mondays | 6:00pm | Perry Home Parlor
Begins March 6
Hosted by Monday Night Bible Class. Rev. Brandon Bures will be leading a study Give Up Something Bad for Lent by James Moore. In this study, participants will be challenged to go beyond giving up chocolate for Easter to seeking God’s help to focus on eliminating one habit or attitude that is destructive.

New Sunday Class
9:30pm | Perry Home, Room 201
Begins March 5
All are invited to join us for a 5-6 week class that will meet on Sunday mornings during Sunday School. This class led by Kelsey Seager will study Shauna Niequist’s book Present over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic For A Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living. This study invites you to begin an entirely new way to live: soaked in grace, rest, silence, simplicity, prayer, and connection with the people who matter to most of us.

Sacred Rhythms
Mondays | 6:00pm | Starts March 6
All are invited to a great Lenten study using Ruth Haley Barton’s book, Sacred Rhythms. This study “does a great job of helping a person understand the basics of each spiritual practice and then taking you through an exercise where you experience the discipline”.

Holy Week

Palm / Passion Sunday
April 9th, All Services, Liturgical color: Purple
Palm / Passion Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, a time where we remember the sacrifice God made for us. As Palm Sunday begins, the crowd waves palm branches, wanting to crown Jesus as king. But as the story of the passion unfolds, their shouts of praise turn to demands for his cruci- fixion; he receives a crown of thorns as he is handed over to be mocked and killed.

Holy Thursday
April 13th, 7:00pm, Main Sanctuary, Liturgical color: Purple
Holy Thursday commemorates the last supper of Jesus with his disciples and his later betrayal. After a sermon by Dr. Wachob, we will celebrate Holy Communion and conclude the service with the stripping of the chancel and altar.

Good Friday Tenebrae Service
April 14th, 7:00pm, Main Sanctuary
Tenebrae is a service of darkness commemorating the crucifixion. This service includes readings from the passion narrative while candles are extinguished. The service concludes with the sanctuary in complete darkness.
