Our energetic and exciting Tween program is a wonderful addition to the ministries of First Church. Our 5th and 6th graders learn how to grow, by example, into loving and responsible youth and adults.

Sunday evening gathering where tweens participate in a variety of exciting activities including choir, tween fear factor, messy games, and more.

5th Grade Panera Small Group
Fifth graders are invited to meet at Dunwoody Park at 2:30pm for a small group and a time of devotion after school. Bring money for a snack! We will end at 3:30pm.
6th Grade Thursday Morning Small Group
Sixth graders are invited to meet at Panera Bread at Cordova Mall at 7:45am for a small group devotion before school. Transportation to Workman is provided.
6th Grade Friday Morning Small Group
Sixth graders are invited to meet at Bagelheads at 6:30am for a small group devotion before school. Transportation to EDS is available. Possible transportation could be available to other schools

All 5th and 6th graders are invited and encouraged to participate in confirmation. Confirmands participate in a variety of in depth classes which prepare them to become full members of the church. Upon completion of the confirmation class, confirmands commit to the Methodist Church during worship the Sunday following Easter.
First Church follows Safe Sanctuaries procedures to create an environment in which children, youth and the adults who work with them have boundaries of safe space.

Denise has an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and holds her Directors Credential for the State and is a Certified Trainer for the Early Childhood Coalition of Escambia County. She has served in several capacities at the church, from Preschool Director to her current position as Director of Tween and Youth Ministries. Denise enjoys running and has run in several half marathons and marathons. She is married to Ricky Van Atta and has a daughter, Brady.
