UMCOR is the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church dedicated to alleviating human suffering around the world. Compelled by Christ, UMCOR responds to natural or human made disasters—those interruptions of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on its own.
UMCOR Responding to Hurricanes Laura and Sally and the West Coast Fires
UMCOR-trained Emergency Response Teams have been responding to the critical needs of people impacted by Hurricane Sally in our community, and they continue to respond to the damage caused by Hurricane Laura and the fires in the west. Right now their most urgent need is for money donations. If you can help, give to UMCOR by clicking on the button below.
UMCOR-trained volunteers are at work now assisting people in our area and across the country – will you please help?
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) brings God’s hope, healing and renewal to people whose lives have been disrupted by war, conflict or natural disaster. UMCOR provides humanitarian relief and disaster response to people in more than 80 countries, including the United States.
After the recovery has begun, wounds have been tended, basic needs met, and the world’s attention has faded, The United Methodist Church continues to be present by providing ongoing assistance.
UMCOR provides survivors not only temporary relief, but also long-term education, training, and support. While UMCOR cooperates with other aid organizations, the most important partners in the work of recovery are those being served.
