On August 29, the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Ida made landfall near Port Fourchon, Louisiana. Throughout its path of destruction in Louisiana, more than a million people in total had no electrical power. Widespread heavy infrastructural damage occurred throughout the southeastern portion of the state, as well as extremely heavy flooding in coastal areas.
The need in Louisiana is significant. Our conference will be assisting in two ways: 1) by sending supplies and 2) by sending teams. Please help us to be a good partner with the Louisiana Conference by following the below instructions.
Supplies
As a conference we will be collecting supplies for the Louisiana Conference. They only have three locations up and running for Ida relief, so they are asking us as a conference to be as organized as possible with our delivery schedule. We will be collecting SPECIFIC items for one week only ending on Sunday the 19th.

- Batteries of all sizes
- Dust pans
- Scoop shovels
- Tarping supplies
- Tarps
- Furring strips
- Cap nails
- Extension cords

- Canned tuna (POP TOP ONLY)

Our church is the drop-off site for the Pensacola District, so you can bring all your donations to the church garages on Guillemard St.
Drop-off times will be available:
- Monday – Thursday, 9:00am – 4:00pm
- Friday & Saturday, 9:00am – Noon
- Sunday, 8:00am – Noon
Teams
The Louisiana Conference is also looking for teams to help with tarping, debris removal, mucking and gutting, and feeding. All teams need to go through our district coordinator prior to deploying, so contact the church office (850-432-1434) or email info@fumcpensacola.com if you would like to join a team.
