Pastor Emily is an ordained Deacon and she oversees Discipleship, Congregational Care, and Missions at First Church. She is originally from Monroeville, Alabama, and has a degree in Cultural and Religious Studies from Huntingdon College and a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Christian Education from Duke Divinity School. Her first appointment after graduation was as an Associate Pastor and Director of Children’s Ministries at FUMC Wetumpka (AL). She’s since served as Associate Pastor and Director of Christian Education at Aldersgate UMC (Montgomery, AL), Executive Pastor at Aldersgate UMC, and Executive Pastor at Orange Beach UMC (AL). Emily was elected as a 2024 delegate to General and Jurisdictional Conferences and then chosen to be the delegation chair, the first female clergyperson and deacon to serve in that role. Emily has served on the Alabama West Florida Conference Board of Ordained Ministry as Vice Chair and Chair. She now serves as the current chair of the Conference Trustees, as well as a trustee of Huntingdon College. She is married to Brian, and they have two daughters, Ruth and Martha.
