We pray you all are well and that God is ever present during this challenging time. We know many of you are juggling jobs, homeschooling your children, making difficult decisions while trying to navigate your next steps. We pray for you and all of your kiddos. One way to cope with the uncertainty from the effects of this worldwide pandemic is to rely on the Word of God. Days like these are a perfect time for you and your children to remember and celebrate who God is and how He loves His children. What better time than the present to have such an opportunity to share such a gift from God. We invite all our families to come together for the Jesus Storybook Bible Challenge. This book encompasses the big story of God’s “never ending, never giving up, unbreaking, always and forever love.â€
Here’s how the challenge works:
â— Each day, beginning Monday, May 11th, you read one story together as a family. You can read before bed, at breakfast, during bath time or maybe include as the ending of your school day …whenever it works for you.
â— In 44 days, you will have read the entire Jesus Storybook Bible! If you read every Mon-Sat leaving Sunday for your worship day, your family will have read the whole Bible by June 30th.
â— In addition, each Sunday, during our Sunday School time, your child’s teacher will choose one of the stories from the week to share and discuss. (More Sunday School details will be emailed separately)
â—‹ Elementary Sunday School Zoom lesson will be on Sundays at 9:30am
○ Preschool & Kindergarten Sunday School will have a video with their teacher sharing a story which will be emailed and put on the FUMC Children’s Ministries Facebook Page every Saturday so parents can access it anytime that weekend.
â— Also, we will share additional materials on our Facebook page that connect with the stories for the week including activity pages and/or fun games or projects.
â— BONUS: FAMILY FUN NIGHT Each Wednesday, families who are participating will be given ideas for a fun family activity that will somehow connect to one of the stories that week.
Here’s a little info on The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones: While other Kids’ Bibles contain stories from the Old and New Testaments, The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the Story beneath all the stories in the Bible, pointing to Jesus as our Savior. From the Old Testament through the New Testament, as the Story unfolds, children will clearly see that Jesus is at the center of God’s great story of salvation—and at the center of their story too.
So, let’s get started…Our launch day is Sunday, May 10th with a Facebook Live kickoff . Then we all begin on Monday, May 11th. To join in this challenge, there are two things you need to do:
