All arrangements pertaining to the service of marriage shall be made in consultation with the ministers of the church. Methodists believe that a wedding is a happy and joyous occasion, but that its social importance is only incidental to its spiritual significance. The wedding service, in fact, is a service of worship in which vows are made, prayers are offered and a blessing given. Since 1821, First United Methodist Church has played a part in the uniting of hundreds of brides and grooms. Many of our beautiful historic buildings, including the Main Sanctuary and Chapel are available for services of marriage. However, because of the large number of weddings to be held at First Church each year, use of our buildings for wedding services are only available for current members in good standing.
